Embracing Your Season with Faith

Opening Question Notes

08/05/2025

Life moves through seasons. Some seasons are filled with joy, while others may feel heavy or uncertain. But whether we're in times of prosperity or difficulty, God calls us to embrace where we are, trusting that He is working all things together for our good. The question we’re reflecting on tonight “Have you accepted the season you're in, and how are you showing up in this season?” calls us to examine how we approach the moments that make up our lives.

Understanding Seasons
In Ecclesiastes 3:1, we are reminded that "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." God has a perfect timing for everything in our lives, whether it’s a time to be still, to grow, or to take action. Each season is ordained by God. We may not always understand it, but accepting our season means trusting that this time is part of God’s divine plan. Where you are right now matters to God.

The Challenge of Contentment
In Philippians 4:11-13, Paul speaks about learning to be content in every season, whether in abundance or need. He says, “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.” Accepting our season isn’t always easy. Sometimes, we find ourselves yearning for what’s next, or struggling to see purpose in difficult circumstances. But Paul teaches us that contentment doesn’t come from external circumstances; it’s rooted in the strength of Christ. When we show up in our season with faith, we are trusting that God’s grace is enough for the moment.

Persevering in Trials
James 1:2-4 encourages us to “consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds.” This doesn’t mean that trials are easy, but it teaches us that trials are a part of the process God uses to strengthen our faith. When we show up in seasons of hardship, it means choosing perseverance and joy, knowing that these seasons refine us and prepare us for what’s to come.

Fruitfulness in Due Season
In Psalm 1:3, the one who delights in God’s Word is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in its season. This verse reminds us that fruitfulness comes when we remain rooted in God, even during difficult or quiet seasons. How we show up in the season we're in is an act of faithfulness—whether we're in a season of growth, rest, or hardship.
